Why regular servicing matters
Keeping your car serviced on time is one of the most cost-effective decisions you can make as a vehicle owner. Oil breaks down and loses its protective properties, filters become restricted, and small issues develop into expensive failures when they are not caught early.
At Urban Autohaus in West Bromwich, we carry out interim, full, and major services across all makes and models. Every job gets the correct oil for the engine, a service book stamp, and a clear report on anything we find before any extra work is agreed.
Interim service — every six months or 6,000 miles
An interim service is designed for higher-mileage drivers who want to protect the engine between annual checks. It covers around 25 items including oil and filter change, fluid top-ups, tyre depths and pressures, and a visual brake and lights check.
If you drive more than 12,000 miles per year, an interim service at six months or 6,000 miles significantly reduces engine wear and can flag developing problems before they cost more to fix.
Full service — every 12 months or 12,000 miles
A full service is the standard annual check for most drivers. It covers around 40 items and adds an air filter replacement, deeper brake and disc inspection, steering and suspension component checks, and a more thorough review of fluid condition.
This is what most manufacturers recommend as a minimum and what protects your warranty under block exemption rules when we use the correct specification oil and record all work — which we always do.
Major service — every 24 months or 24,000 miles
A major service builds on the full service by adding pollen filter replacement, spark plugs or fuel filter changes when the manufacturer schedule requires, and additional system checks covering clutch, driveline, and brake fluid condition.
