Why book with us
Mercedes Sprinter Servicing & Repairs West Bromwich with clear advice.
The Sprinter is one of the hardest working vans on the road. Couriers, builders, removals firms and conversion companies around West Bromwich rely on them every day. We service Sprinters from the early T1N right through to the latest 907 and 910 models, along with the smaller Vito and Citan. We carry out diagnostics, brakes, suspension, clutch work and emissions repairs, and we keep the van's service record up to date.
Nearly every Sprinter in a 313, 314, 316 or 319 badge is plated at 3,500kg. That puts it in Class 7 for its MOT, and many local garages can only test up to 3,000kg. We are a DVSA testing station, site S004609, authorised for Class 7 as well as Class 4. So your Sprinter can be tested, repaired and retested in one place, instead of being driven between two.
Sprinters have some well-known problems. The 2.1 CDI OM651 engine can suffer injector faults that cause misfires and hard starting. Euro 6 vans from around 2016 use AdBlue, and failed tank heaters, pumps and NOx sensors bring up warnings with a countdown to a no-start. Older vans rust on the sills, arches and door bottoms. Knowing what to look for means we get to the cause quickly.
Every job starts with a proper check. We read the fault codes across the van's control units, look the van over and test the parts that are suspect. Then we call you with a clear price and explain what is urgent and what can wait. Nothing is done without your go-ahead. If your Sprinter is racked out or converted, let us know when you book so we can plan around it.
We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, close to Oldbury, Great Bridge and Smethwick. We have looked after local vehicles for more than seven years and are rated 4.9 stars on Google. If a Sprinter fails its MOT with us, the retest within 10 working days is free. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30. Call us on 07498 392333 to book in.

Common questions
- Can you MOT my Sprinter?
- Yes. Most Sprinters are plated at 3,500kg and need a Class 7 MOT. We are authorised for Class 7 at our West Bromwich testing station, site S004609, so we can test them here. Lighter vans such as the Vito are usually Class 4, which we also carry out. Your weight plate or V5C shows the design gross weight.
- My Sprinter has an AdBlue countdown. What should I do?
- Book it in quickly, because once the countdown reaches zero the van will not restart. If the level is low, a top-up may be all it needs. If the warning stays after filling, the tank heater, pump or a NOx sensor has usually failed. We test the system, replace the faulty part and reset it so the warning clears.
- Why is my 2.1 CDI Sprinter misfiring?
- On the OM651 engine, injector faults are a common cause of misfiring, smoke, knocking at idle and hard starting. Other faults can feel similar, so we test the injectors and read the fuel system data before recommending anything. That way you only pay for the parts that have actually failed.
- Will an independent service affect my Sprinter warranty?
- No. UK block exemption rules let you have a van serviced away from the dealer without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We use the correct grades for your engine and record the work so your service history stays complete.
- Can you deal with rust on my Sprinter before the MOT?
- Yes. Older Sprinters are prone to rust on the sills, arches, door bottoms and around the rear step. Corrosion near structural or mounting points can fail an MOT. We check it over, show you what we have found and give you a price for repairs before the test, so there are fewer surprises.
- Can I book a service and Class 7 MOT in the same visit?
- Yes, and it saves your van being off the road twice. We carry out the service and the MOT together. If the test finds anything, we ring you with a price before doing any work. If the van fails with us, the retest within 10 working days is free.
- Do you work on Sprinter Lutons, dropsides and conversions?
- Yes. Underneath they share the same engines, gearboxes, brakes and running gear as panel vans. We service and repair them in the same way. Most are plated at 3,500kg, so they need a Class 7 MOT, which we can carry out in West Bromwich.
- How often should a Sprinter be serviced?
- Sprinters use a service indicator that alternates between Service A and Service B. A van covering high mileage or doing heavy multi-drop work will often need servicing sooner than one that sits on the motorway. Give us your registration and mileage and we will tell you what is due.
- Do you look after small fleets of Sprinters?
- Yes. We look after single vans for owner-drivers and several vans for local businesses. Each van gets its own clear invoice and its own service record. Call us on 07498 392333 to talk about fitting your vans in around your work.
