- Do I need a tracker for my car insurance?
- Some insurers require a tracker on higher-value or high-theft-risk vehicles — particularly certain BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, and performance models — or offer a meaningful premium reduction when one is fitted. Thatcham S5 and S7 approved units are the categories most commonly specified. Check your policy or broker before booking and we can advise on suitable units.
- Will the tracker reduce my insurance premium?
- For vehicles in high-theft categories, a Thatcham-approved tracker can significantly reduce premiums or allow the vehicle to be insured at all. Savings vary by insurer and vehicle. Always declare the tracker to your insurer after fitting — both to comply with your policy and to claim any applicable reduction.
- Will the tracker be hidden in my car?
- Yes. We conceal the tracker and route wiring so it is not visible and is harder to locate and remove. The fitting location is not disclosed outside of what you share with your insurer — we do not record or share locations externally.
- What is the difference between a subscription tracker and a no-fee tracker?
- A subscription tracker provides live location updates, 24-hour monitoring, and often a stolen vehicle recovery team who liaise with police on your behalf. A no-fee unit logs journey data but typically requires manual retrieval and has no live monitoring. For insurance purposes, S5 and S7 Thatcham approval usually requires a monitored subscription service.
- Can you fit a tracker on a van or commercial vehicle?
- Yes. Trackers on vans serve both theft protection and fleet management. We fit on Transit vans, Sprinters, VW Transporters, and other LCVs.
