Why book with us

Renault Trafic Servicing & Repairs West Bromwich with clear advice.

Renault vans work hard across the Black Country, from the compact Kangoo to the mid-size Trafic and the big Master. We service and repair all three, covering diagnostics, clutches, gearboxes, brakes, suspension and emissions faults. Whether you are a sole trader with one van or a business running several, we understand that every day off the road costs money, so we keep you in the picture from the moment it arrives.

Most Trafics and Kangoos are tested under Class 4. The Master is usually plated at 3,500kg and needs a Class 7 MOT, which many local garages cannot do. We are a DVSA testing station, site S004609, authorised for Class 4 and Class 7. So the whole Renault range can be tested, repaired and retested in one place, without you having to find a second garage.

The Trafic has a few well-known faults. On the older 1.9 dCi, the gearbox bearings are a weak point and start to whine or growl as they wear. The 2.0 dCi is known for clutch and dual-mass flywheel wear. The later 1.6 dCi can block its particulate filter on short runs, and the newest Blue dCi vans use AdBlue, which brings warnings of its own.

We start with proper diagnosis. We read the fault codes, check the van over and test the parts most likely to be at fault. Then we call you, explain what we found and give you a clear price. We tell you what needs doing now and what can wait. Nothing goes ahead without your say-so. If the van has racking or a conversion, mention it when you book.

We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, a short drive from Tipton, Smethwick and Oldbury. We have looked after local vehicles for more than seven years and hold a 4.9 star rating on Google. If your van fails its MOT with us, the retest within 10 working days is free. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30. Call 07498 392333 to book in.

Common questions

Can you MOT a Renault Master?
Yes. Most Masters are plated at 3,500kg and need a Class 7 MOT. We are authorised for Class 7 at our West Bromwich testing station, site S004609. Trafics and Kangoos are usually under 3,000kg and take a Class 4 MOT, which we also do. Your weight plate or V5C shows which class your van needs.
My Trafic is whining from the gearbox. What is it?
On older 1.9 dCi Trafics a worn gearbox bearing is a common cause of a whine or growl that rises with speed. A wheel bearing can sound similar. We road test the van and check it on the ramp to pin it down. Dealing with a worn bearing early can save a much bigger gearbox repair.
How do I know my Trafic needs a new clutch?
Signs include the engine revs rising without the van speeding up, a judder pulling away, a high biting point or a rattle at idle that quietens when you press the pedal. The last one often points to the dual-mass flywheel. We check both and tell you what needs replacing before we start.
Will an independent service affect my Trafic warranty?
No. UK block exemption rules let you have a van serviced away from the dealer without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We use the correct grades for your engine and record the work so your service history stays complete.
Why does my Trafic keep showing a DPF warning?
The particulate filter needs regular longer runs to burn off soot. Vans doing short local work often never get hot enough. A faulty pressure sensor can also trigger the light. We read the soot data and sensor values, then advise a regeneration, clean or replacement depending on what we find.
Do you work on the Trafic Sport and Crew Van?
Yes. They share the same engines, gearboxes and running gear as the panel van, so we service and repair them the same way. We can also MOT them here, usually under Class 4. Mention the seating or any conversion when you book so we can plan the job.
Can I book an MOT and service together?
Yes. Booking both in one visit keeps your van off the road for less time. If the MOT finds anything, we call you with a price first. If the van fails with us, the retest within 10 working days is free.
Do you look after Kangoos too?
Yes. The Kangoo is popular with tradespeople and delivery drivers, and we service, repair and MOT them under Class 4. Common jobs include servicing, clutches, brakes, suspension and diagnosing warning lights. As with every van, we check it over first and ring you with a clear price before any work starts.
Where are you based?
We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY. We see vans from across Sandwell, Birmingham, Dudley and the Black Country. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30. Call 07498 392333 to book or to talk through a fault.
