Why book with us

VW Transporter Servicing & Repairs West Bromwich with clear advice.

The Transporter is a favourite with tradespeople, and plenty are now camper conversions too. We work on the T5, T5.1, T6 and T6.1, as well as the Caddy and the larger Crafter. We carry out servicing to the VW schedule, diagnostics, clutch and flywheel work, brakes, suspension and emissions repairs. Whether it is your only work van or one of several, we know it needs to keep earning.

Most Transporters are tested under Class 4, but some high-payload versions and nearly all Crafters are plated over 3,000kg. Those need a Class 7 MOT. We are a DVSA testing station, site S004609, authorised for both Class 4 and Class 7. That means every van in the VW range can be tested here, and any repairs can be done in the same place.

The common rail 2.0 TDI in the T5.1 and T6 is a strong engine, but EGR valves, EGR coolers and particulate filters give trouble, especially on vans doing short local work. Euro 6 vans use AdBlue, which brings its own warnings. Earlier T5s with the 1.9 and 2.5 TDI are known for dual-mass flywheel wear, and the 2.5 can wear its camshaft. We know these patterns and test for them first.

We read the fault codes, look the van over and test before we price anything. Then we ring you, explain what we have found and give you a clear quote. We tell you what needs doing now and what can wait. No work is started without your say-so. If your van has racking, ply-lining or a conversion, mention it when you book so we can plan the job.

Our workshop is on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, near Wednesbury, Tipton and Oldbury. We have looked after local vehicles for more than seven years and hold a 4.9 star rating on Google. You are welcome to wait in our heated waiting room with a hot drink. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30. Call 07498 392333 to book your VW in.

Common questions

Does my Transporter need a Class 4 or Class 7 MOT?
It depends on the design gross weight, not the size of the van. Most Transporters are under 3,000kg and take a Class 4 MOT. Some higher payload versions are plated above that, and nearly all Crafters are, so they need Class 7. The weight is on the plate in the van and on your V5C. We do both tests.
My T6 has an engine light and is in limp mode. What could it be?
On the 2.0 TDI, a stuck EGR valve, a blocked EGR cooler or a full particulate filter are the usual suspects, especially on vans that mostly do short trips. A boost leak or sensor fault can feel the same. We read the codes and live data and test the parts before recommending a repair.
How often should a Transporter be serviced?
Many Transporters are set to a variable long-life interval, which can stretch to two years between oil changes. For a working van doing short trips and carrying weight, a fixed yearly or mileage-based oil service is kinder to the engine. We can check your schedule from the registration and advise what suits your work.
Will an independent service affect my Transporter warranty?
No. UK block exemption rules let you have a van serviced away from the dealer without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We use the correct grades for your engine and record the work so your service history stays complete.
Can you fix AdBlue warnings on a Transporter?
Yes. Euro 6 Transporters and Crafters use AdBlue, and a warning can come from low fluid, a failed pump or heater, a sensor fault or crystallised fluid. Topping up does not fix every case. We test the system, find the faulty part and reset it so the warning and countdown clear.
Do you work on camper conversions?
Yes, for the base vehicle. We service and repair the engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension and steering on Transporter campers just as we do on panel vans. Tell us about the conversion when you book, so we know what is fitted and can plan the job around it.
My T5 rattles at idle and judders pulling away. Is it the flywheel?
Very often, yes. A worn dual-mass flywheel causes a rattle at tickover that may quieten when the clutch is pressed, plus judder from a standstill. A worn clutch can feel similar. We road test the van and check both before quoting, and tell you whether one or both need replacing.
Can you MOT and service my van on the same day?
Yes. Booking both together means your van is off the road once. If the MOT turns anything up, we ring you with a price before doing the work. If it fails with us, the retest within 10 working days is free.
Where are you and when are you open?
We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, and we see vans from across Sandwell, Birmingham and the Black Country. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30, and closed on Sundays. Call 07498 392333 to book, or to talk through a fault first.
