Why book with us
Fiat Ducato Servicing & Repairs West Bromwich with clear advice.
The Ducato is a proper workhorse. Couriers, builders and removals firms use the panel vans, and it is also the base for a huge number of tippers, dropsides and Lutons. We service and repair Ducatos from the older JTD models through the X250 and X290 to the latest vans, along with the smaller Doblo and Scudo. That covers diagnostics, gearboxes, clutches, brakes, suspension and emissions work.
Almost every Ducato is plated at 3,500kg, and the Maxi versions always are. That means a Class 7 MOT, which many local garages simply cannot do. We are a DVSA testing station, site S004609, authorised for Class 7 as well as Class 4. So your Ducato can be tested, any faults repaired and the van retested in one place, instead of being driven around the Black Country looking for a Class 7 slot.
Ducatos have a few faults we see again and again. The six-speed gearbox on X250 and X290 vans is known for bearing failure, which starts as a whine that rises with speed. Clutches and dual-mass flywheels wear on vans that carry heavy loads. Euro 6 vans use AdBlue, which can set off a countdown to a no-start, and older vans are prone to rust on the sills and door bottoms.
We diagnose first and quote second. We read the codes, road test the van and check it on the ramp. Then we call you with a clear price and explain what needs doing now and what can wait. Nothing is done without your agreement. If your Ducato is racked, ply-lined or has a body conversion, let us know when you book so we can plan the job.
We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, a short run from Oldbury, Wednesbury and Smethwick. We have looked after local vehicles for more than seven years and hold a 4.9 star rating on Google. If your Ducato fails its MOT with us, the retest within 10 working days is free. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30. Call 07498 392333 to book in.

Common questions
- Can you MOT a Fiat Ducato?
- Yes. Most Ducatos are plated at 3,500kg and need a Class 7 MOT. We are authorised for Class 7 at our West Bromwich testing station, site S004609, so we can test them here. The smaller Doblo is tested under Class 4, which we also do. The weight plate or V5C shows the design gross weight.
- My Ducato whines from the gearbox. Is that a known problem?
- Yes. The six-speed gearbox on X250 and X290 Ducatos is known for bearing wear, which shows as a whine or rumble that rises with speed. Left alone, it can lead to more damage inside the gearbox. We road test the van, check it on the ramp and rule out wheel bearings before quoting.
- My Ducato has an AdBlue countdown. What should I do?
- Book it in quickly, because when the countdown reaches zero the van will not restart. If the level is low, a top-up may sort it. If the warning stays, a pump, heater or sensor has usually failed. We test the system, replace the faulty part and reset it so the warning clears.
- Will an independent service affect my Ducato warranty?
- No. UK block exemption rules let you have a van serviced away from the dealer without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We use the correct grades for your engine and record the work so your service history stays complete.
- How do I know my Ducato's clutch is wearing out?
- Look out for revs rising without the van speeding up, judder pulling away, a high biting point or a rattle at idle that stops when you press the pedal. That rattle often points to the dual-mass flywheel. We check both and tell you what needs replacing before any work starts.
- Do you work on Ducato tippers, Lutons and dropsides?
- Yes. They share the Ducato's engine, gearbox, brakes and running gear, so we service and repair them in the same way as the panel van. They are nearly always plated at 3,500kg, so they need a Class 7 MOT, which we carry out in West Bromwich.
- Can I book a service and Class 7 MOT on the same day?
- Yes. Booking both together means your van is off the road once instead of twice. If the MOT finds anything, we ring you with a price first. If the van fails with us, the retest within 10 working days is free.
- How often should a Ducato be serviced?
- For a working van, at least once a year or at Fiat's mileage interval, whichever comes first. Vans that carry heavy loads or do lots of short trips benefit from regular oil changes. Give us your registration and we will check the schedule for your van.
- Where are you and when are you open?
- We are on Cornwallis Road, West Bromwich, B70 9BY, and see vans from across Sandwell, Birmingham, Dudley and the Black Country. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:30, and closed on Sundays. Call 07498 392333 to book, or to talk through a fault first.
